James Montgomery Doohan (Scotty from Star Trek) was at D-Day

10300150_780177202013675_6353734397348076389_nJames Montgomery Doohan  known for his role in the Original Star Trek TV Series.   Before being known as a actor he was a Officer in the Canadian Military and made landing in Juno Beach during the Invasion of Normandy.  Another thing most people are unaware of he was wounded in action by machine gun fire and lost a finger during the battle,  sometimes your catch a glimpse on clips though otherwise it was well hidden.   If you go to the TLC Chinese Theater (Formally Grahmens Chinese Theater) in the heart of Hollywood your be able to see his hand prints as long as his fellow cast mates on their walk of fame, you would be able to notice the missing finger.

James Doohan pasted away in 2005 and is missed as a Father and Grandfather.   I was humbled when one of his sons Christopher Doohan who you can see on the fan series of Star Trek Continues and has been a guest at our 2nd Annual Trek to the Troops Meet ~N~ Greet at the Bob Hope Hollywood USO)  Once  told me that he believes that his dad and I would have gotten along great because of the military bond.   I unfortunately never got a chance to meet this great man and hero.. On and off the screen James Doohan was cherished and loved by the fans.
